Number 475 in the book - try a cryptic crossword

Holy guacamole! Or should I say Mexican Saint-like sauce? I always thought I had a decent grasp of the English language and I even enjoy a little wordplay. So when I saw the suggestion to try a cryptic crossword I decided that this one would be pretty easy - I was wrong So far I'm 3 successful clues into a 30 clue crossword, and I've been at it for over half an hour. Not exactly smashing this one, I have to say Mind you, I am enjoying it. It's a nice challenge and I do feel a bit chuffed with myself when I get an answer. I'm determined to keep going with this and will add my very first ongoing goal of this challenge to my list: Ongoing goals 1. Complete a cryptic crossword Watch this space :)

Number 466 in the book - write a limerick

Now I probably have done this one before, but it's been a very long time and I can't recall any that I may have written in the past so I'll give it another go. The instructions say the racier the better but that's not really my bag, so here goes my attempt: There once was a fella called Pete Who had unusually large feet He took lengthy paces And had ropes for his laces The smell was awful in the heat! So, I did enjoy this a little. I'm not entirely happy with the end result but I enjoyed trying to think of the rhyme and rhythm as it's something I rarely do. I don't think it will be a regular hobby but I might have another go on a long train journey in the future.

Looking for a purpose, starting with a hobby

Following a difficult time mentally and emotionally I have decided that my life needs more purpose. The longer-term effects of depression do mean that hobbies, social activities and relationships tend to fall by the weyside. As a result I decided to try some new things, to try to find a new passion. Today I am starting this blog. It's not for you (although if you have taken the time to read it then I hope you get something out of it) it's for me. It's to keep me on track with my goal of trying to attempt a new activity on most days. To make it easy to choose an activity each day I plan to use a book that I recently purchased from a charity shop called 'How to do just about everything'. And after I've settled into the idea of trying new things I'll perhaps branch out a little. I'm not entirely sure what comes next, but I look forward to trying some new things Take care x
